The history of the University of Perpetual help system starts around 1965 when Dr. Jose G. Tamayo and Dra. Josefina laperal Tamayo laid the foundation stone of the “University of Perpetual Help – Dr. Jose G. Tamayo Medical University Jonelta System”. They started the medical college to help the nation develop and transform with a principle of ‘Character Building is Nation Building’.
Later, being a head of a patriarch clan, Dr. Jose gave his authority to his eldest son Dr./BGen. Antonio Laperal Tamayo. Dr. Antonio who learned all the administrative under his parents’ supervision in their medical college, took the reign and started expanding the perpetual help system.
On 5th of February 1975, Dr. Antonio with his wife Dr. Daisy Moran Tamayo founded their own medical college and hospital named Perpetual Help College of Rizal (PHCR) in Las Piñas City. The first course PHCR offered was Bachelor of Science in Nursing. In the first year, the college 700 students enrolled with them. And this extravagant beginning of PHCR and its journey of growth and expansion led it to the present form, which we knew as the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta (UPHSD).

The story of Emilio Aguinaldo College starts from its forerunner institution named Marian School of Midwifery which was founded in 1957. In 1959, its expansion led it to become Marian School of Nursing. Late in 1973, The University Physicians’ Services, Inc. took over management of the school and with time the school turned into Marian Junior College in 1973. But, the present form of the medical college which we name as Emilio Aguinaldo College is a result of dream seen by Dr. Paulo C. Campos. In September of 1977, Marion Junior College was renamed as Emilio Aguinaldo College to apply to both Manila and Cavite Campuses.
